About the licence
The broadcasting licence fee, also called the licence, was a public fee for everyone who has a TV and/or digital decoder. You had to pay for the license irrespective of which TV you owned, and which channels you chose to watch.
Please note that as of 01.01.2020 the license will cease.
There are several ways of getting registered with a licence. The most common one is that you have bought a TV and/or a digital decoder, and that we have therefore received notification of this from the shop. A new license will then be issued on the basis of the information we have received. Information about the type of receiver that has been bought (brand/model) and if applicable, copy of the purchase receipt you get by contacting the shop.
After 01.01.2020 NRK no longer registers new licenses, but you may have received license requirements if you purchased TV equipment in late 2019.
